Poochie-Pets, LLC

Poochie-Pets, LLC partnered with Bevin Brothers in 2009 to design and make bells for their Poochie-Bells® dog doorbell potty training tool line. After reading an article about Poochie-Pets in the New Haven Register, Bevin Brothers contacted the company, which happened to be the same time Poochie-Pets was shopping for a new vendor.

“Bevin Brothers provided a variety of prototypes for us until we came up with just the right design.” Cheryl Pedersen, owner of Poochie-Pets explains. “We are very pleased they were able to meet our needs and that we have partnered with a bell company right here in Connecticut."

Central Coast Concerned Mountain Bikers

Montana de Oro State Park rangers brought to our attention that there were some conflict issues between mountain biker, equestrians and hikers.  Central Coast Concerned Mountain Bikers along with California State Park, Montana de Oro and San Luis Obispo City Recreation Dept. initiated a trail conflict awareness program in early February 2010.  It was decided that if the equestrians and hikers could hear the mountain bikers coming, it would reduce trail use issues.  CCCMB installed Bell Boxes at the trail heads of a few select trails at Montana de Oro and San Luis Obispo Open Space. These Boxes are stocked with size #00 Cow Bells with our CCCMB logo.

We encourage Mountain Bikers to take a bell and strap it on their bike with the attached Velcro strap, so other trail users could hear them from a distance.  We ask that they return the bells to the bell box after they have finished their ride. Many Mt. bikers have kept the bells to use on other trails.

The responses we have received from the hikers and equestrians have been very positive and supportive of this program. The equestrians have indicated that humans hear the bells a few hundred yards away but the horses can hear them from a distance of a ½ mile or more.  This alerts the horses that a bike is approaching.

This program has raised the awareness of all the trail users and has resulted in more courteous communication between the different groups.
CCCMB has partnered with some of the local bike shops to share the cost of the bells. Our logo is displayed on one side and the bike shop logo is displayed on the other side.

Visit cccmb.org for more information on the work we do to our local trails.
